Dance in the Morning

Completing physical activity daily is not one of my strong points. I realize that when I do exercise I feel more energized, motivated to complete additional tasks, have a better mental outlook, and have a feeling of accomplishment. I know I need to make it more of a priority in my life so I feel these benefits more often. As part of my own Happiness Project I made the goal to "Dance in the Mornings." Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project, made the goal to "Sing in the Mornings" as a part of her overall goal to "Lighten Up." I am a terrible singer and hate to dance in public but my daughter loves to dance. What better routine than to turn on some music and get moving by shaking my hips with my sweet daughter to start the morning off right?! Ellyn Satter, author of Child of Mine, wrote, "Supporting your child in being active depends on a division of responsibility: you provide the opportunities and your child partakes or doesn't partake in the activity." She goes on to say, "Joyful activity is sustainable-it has a chance of developing into a lifelong habit of movement."

I will continue to try to provide opportunities for my family to "move" together. I want to be a good role model for my daughter that exercise can be fun and enjoyable.
